Everything you need to know about SparkProof AI and UAE electrical compliance

🤖 Product & Features

SparkProof AI is an AI-powered assistant for electrical engineers and electricians working in the UAE. It provides instant answers on DEWA regulations, cable sizing calculations, compliance checklists, and photo-based inspection of electrical installations — all based on official UAE standards.

SparkProof AI covers UAE Electrical Installation Standards including:

  • DEWA Regulations for Electrical Installations 2017
  • IEC 60364 (Low-voltage electrical installations)
  • BS 7671 (IET Wiring Regulations)
  • ADDC, SEWA, FEWA requirements where applicable

Upload a photo of any electrical installation — a distribution board, cable tray, socket outlet, or wiring setup. Our AI vision model analyzes the image against UAE electrical standards and identifies potential violations, safety concerns, and compliance issues with specific regulation references.

SparkProof uses Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) — every answer is based on actual sections from official DEWA documents, not general AI knowledge. We include page references so you can verify directly. However, always confirm critical decisions with the latest official regulations and qualified professionals.

SparkProof provides three engineering calculators built to UAE standards:

  • Cable Sizing Calculator — Recommends cable size based on current, insulation type, and installation method per DEWA Table 4E1A/4E2A
  • Voltage Drop Calculator — Checks compliance with DEWA 2.5% / 4% limits
  • Load Calculator — Calculates diversified load with UAE diversity factors
⚡ UAE Electrical Standards

DEWA requires voltage drop not to exceed 2.5% for lighting circuits and 4% for power circuits from the main distribution board to the final point. This is measured at full load conditions per Regulation 525.

Per DEWA regulations, RCDs (30mA) are mandatory for all socket outlets, bathroom circuits, outdoor circuits, and circuits in zones with increased risk of electric shock. DEWA requires Type A RCDs as a minimum. For some applications, Type B may be required (e.g., EV charging).

DEWA-approved cables include XLPE and PVC insulated cables meeting BS/IEC standards. Common types used in UAE:

  • PVC/PVC (6381Y) — General wiring in conduit
  • XLPE/SWA/PVC — Underground and external runs
  • LSZH (Low Smoke Zero Halogen) — Required in public buildings per UAE Fire Code

All cables must carry the ESMA quality mark.

While all UAE authorities follow BS 7671/IEC 60364, there are differences in implementation:

  • DEWA (Dubai) — Most detailed regulations; mandatory NOC process
  • ADDC (Abu Dhabi) — Similar to DEWA but with some local variations
  • SEWA (Sharjah) — Follows DEWA closely with minor differences
  • FEWA (Northern Emirates) — Covers Ajman, RAK, UAQ, Fujairah

SparkProof focuses on DEWA regulations (widest adoption) with notes on key differences.
